Gallery by The Bay art gallery at 2100 Union Street in North Bend announces a new director, Jeri Baumgardner of Portland, by way of Hawaii, who will be taking over in September in conjunction with the exhibit of her solo show (to be announced).
Baumgardner owned and operated an active art gallery in Portland, Oregon for 15 years before moving to Hawaii where she participated in art exhibits and crafts while a resident there.
Gallery by The Bay was founded on the ground floor of Unity by the Bay Center For Spiritual Living in year 2000 by Betty Bangs and was carried on by local artists Emily Ashworth (deceased), Jean Boynton, Vanessa Johnson and Ina Christensen when Bangs and her husband moved to Medford.
After Robert passed, Betty returned to Coos Bay and picked up where she had left off, ten years earlier, renewing the gallery’s mission to showcase the talents of local artists.
With the assistance of Judy Caldwell the two re-opened the gallery with exhibits and lively receptions for another 5 years preceding the 2019 pandemic, closing at that time until recently.
Upon the re-construction of the empty space behind the galley completed by Andy Wolfe, numerous classes by the area’s gifted teachers have been held during the gallery’s operation and will again be available.
For more information call Jeri at 808-640-0595.
